Tell us a little about yourself - what is your name and who do you share your home with?
My name is Maureen. I live with my partner and my Grandchildren.
What is your favourite food to cook for your family?
Lasagne with lots of salad.
Where do you work? Can you tell us a little about your job role?
I work at Bluewater. I am a host and a First Aider. I help maintain Bluewater. I am also a Foundation Rep so I help organise fun days and training for all staff.
When did you first hear about the Chaplaincy Service at Bluewater?
Back in 2009 when I lost my mother. Malcolm Cooper was the Chaplain then. Also during the breakdown of my marriage in 2007.
How has the Chaplaincy Service helped you?
I have recently taken custody of my Grandchildren as they were going to go into Care. I was asked if I would take them in and look after them. It took several months before Social Services sorted out benefits and money and by then I had used up my savings and had nothing left. The kids came to me with nothing, no clothes or toys. Ray, the now Chaplain, helped us in so many ways I can't explain. KWM through the Chaplaincy at Bluewater helped with clothing, toys, food and money which helped us a great deal. Ray's wife is now one of my best friends.
What does the Chaplaincy Service mean to you?
The Service means so much to us and without their help things would have been so hard. Thank you so much.
What would you say to any other Companies who were thinking of having their own Chaplaincy Service?
Please do so, as your staff are important and sometimes need help and someone they can talk to and trust outside their friends and family. It is hard to find someone like this, and the Chaplains are the perfect people to trust. Knowing they can pray for you and be there for you gives you such self esteem and confidence. I don't know how I would have coped without them.
