Trustee: The Ven Sandra McCalla

The Venerable Sandra McCalla joined the Diocese of Rochester in 2025 and has spent the past year getting to know the Diocese and its people.

Prior to her ordination in 2012 Archdeacon Sandra was a practising barrister in the City of London for a number of years. After ordination she served her title in the Parish of Poplar and thereafter was the Vicar of St Leonard’s Church, Heston. In addition to her role as Vicar of Heston, she was the Area Dean of Cultural Diversity (now Racial Justice) and also a Chaplain and Formation Tutor at St Mellitus Theological College providing pastoral care for students and ordinands, as well as teaching those undergoing training in theology.

Archdeacon Sandra was made a Prebendary of St Paul’s Cathedral in June 2021 for her services throughout the Diocese of London. She took an active role as a member of the college of canons at St Paul’s; she sat on the nominations committee. Sandra served on the Diocese of London’s Racial Justice Priority Group, whose aim is to support and encourage senior leadership in striving for racial justice within the Church.

In November 2021 she became Chaplain to the Bishop of London for almost four years before joining the Diocese of Rochester as the Archdeacon of Rochester. Sandra served as a member of General Synod for the last quinquennium.

She looks forward to getting more involved with the Kent Workplace Mission.
